This long weekend weather has turned tremendously windy and rainy, so what better way to spend it completing a cool custom order and watching some favourite horror movies on Netflix! So long as the power stays on….

FAV HORROR MOVIES FOR A RAINY DAY

The weatherman says the rain is here to stay for Sunday and Holiday Monday….so I guess snuggling under a quilt and re-watching some of my favourite horror flicks seems to be a great way to spend the long weekend!

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil

Tucker & Dale are on vacation at their dilapidated mountain cabin when they are attacked by a group of preppy college kids.

Admittedly this movie was low on my list to watch at first, because it looked like one of those teen “scream” type moves.  But Netflix was sure I would love it…a 5 star rating estimate, so I finally decided to give it a try.

Little did I know it starred a beloved actor of mine, Alan Tudyk (Firefly), and after the first 7 min or so I saw the hilarious heights of where this movie was going to take the viewer, so I paused it because I thought my hubby would also find it side-splittingly hilarious too! A 6-star rating in my books!

It is a wonderfully funny flip on the “cabin in the woods” type storyline.  It is still available on Netflix and is my go-to movie when I feel crappy, had a bad day, or the weather outside is frightful!

p.s. Thanks Netfix for never giving up on me…and trying to shove this movie down my throat at every available opportunity for suggestions for me

THE CABIN IN THE WOODS

Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods.

While the premise of the movie seems old school, it definitely doesn’t play out that way!  Another flipping the horror genre on it’s head along with full and loveable characters thanks to the fantastic writing of Joss Whedon, Drew Goddard.

It is full of homage/parody to many classic horror flicks and has an epic ending.  I will leave no spoilers….

So if you want to laugh and enjoy a few satisfyingly bloody films, watch or re-watch these two, you will not be disappointed!
