With the leaves changing colour and the cool, crisp bite to the air, it was the perfect time for a wonderful handmade fall market in Manitoba!
I have to say that the folks of Altona were ready to attend this evening craft extravaganza and lined the street outside just waiting to be one of the first 20 in the door to get one of the swag bags loaded with goodies from the creators!
Music, Art and Coffee
This event was created by the love of all of the above, music, art and coffee! I had a great time showcasing my handmade geekering and geeking out with those who knew all about Doctor Who, Buffy and Star Trek (and kinda scaring those who didn't, but heck, everyone knows a geek!).
Other fellow vendors brought amazing handmade goods including soaps, illustrations, baby goods, jewellery, signs and more!
Meet a Few Local Artisans
I did have a few moments to sneak around and take a peek at all the lovely goods too, and chated to a few others who create with their hands.
Funny that we all have Design at the end of our names, perhaps I felt a fellow kinship with them as creators and designers of new things and endless possibilities!
If you didn't make it out, or perhaps missed them in all the excitement, here's a bit about them too!
Katie's Custom Designs-Morris, MB
I often meet Katie at the Post Office in the daytime, where she helps me ship my crafting. It was so fun to finally see where she puts her creative energy to use!
I'm always amazed and happily surprised by the talent in our own back 40, so why not look for the locals to support when doing your holiday shopping?!
Sweet Sparrow Design-Altona, MB
Based in rural southern Manitoba, Sweet Sparrow Design has been creating unique handmade items since 2010.
She crafts some amazing wood teething rings, bunny ear teethers, toddler belts, mitten clips, crayon rolls, headbands,
You can find her shop on Etsy if you need any gifts for little ones!
Spreading Good Vibes
I really have to say I loved the good vibes from all vendors and attendees that just took joy in the atmosphere and spread the love of creating and appreciation for art.
A little birdie tells me that another event such as this may be held next spring, wouldn't that be lovely?
Till then, support local and geek on!
